Defence section

The British and Dutch Armed Forces enjoy very close relations. They share views on operational and tactical procedures and doctrines as well as their policy on NATO and ESDP.  It generates mutual understanding and respect, and a good working relationship as close allies. This enables the UK and NL to co-operate effectively in, for example, international operations, mainly carried out as part of the United Nations and ESDP missions.

The Defence Section's task is to facilitate this co-operation. Its main task is to promote and maintain links between the UK and NL Armed Forces across a wide range of military and defence policy activities, such as capabilities, training, operations and personnel issues. Additionally the section represents UK interests in defence related areas, such as attending commemorative functions, maintaining contacts with UK veteran organisations in the Netherlands and visits of Royal Navy ships to the Netherlands. The Defence Section is headed by the Defence Attaché.
